STONE HOUSE

RESIDENTIAL | TRICHY - TN

Stone House is designed using simple, natural materials to create a durable and flexible environment that suits rural living while incorporating modern spatial elements. The structure is predominantly made of Karungal stone, a nod to ancient construction methods and inspired by the stone walls of Erumbeeshwar Temple. The design elegantly integrates cultural and natural aspects, with exposed brick partitions and polished Kota stones adding texture and bridging tradition with modernity. The project underscores sustainability by using locally sourced stone to cool the interiors and enlisting local craftsmen for the stone masonry. Skylights fashioned from locally made pots and coconut shells, along with terracotta tile filler slabs, further minimize heat gain, making the residence a timeless example of traditional craftsmanship.
